Developing Scientists by Design:
Advancing Mentorship, Career Development, and Institutional Practice
Preparing the next generation of scientists requires more than excellent research training. It calls for intentional approaches to mentorship, meaningful career development opportunities, and institutional environments that support scientists across diverse professional pathways.
The 2027 STEMM Mentorship Symposium will bring together researchers, faculty mentors, trainees, and institutional leaders to explore how evidence-informed mentorship practices and institutional innovations can strengthen scientific career development. Through scholarly presentations, interactive workshops, and cross-institutional discussions, participants will examine what's working, identify persistent challenges, and consider how we can better design the environments in which scientists develop and thrive.
